Creative Works brings fantasy mini golf course to life at ShadowLand

January 30, 2018 – Mooresville, IN – The Alexandria, Virginia-based ShadowLand recently hired our team to design and install an immersive indoor black light miniature golf experience. ShadowLand owner Gene Taylor made the decision to add a new miniature golf course in order to bring something new to the community.

“Gene decided to renovate some existing space in order to better meet ShadowLand’s demographics and mixed age families,” said Creative Works vice president of sales Russ Van Natta.
“Gene and the ShadowLand team saw what we could bring to the table for their one-of-a-kind course.”

The nearly 4,000-square-foot course features 12 highly themed holes with a portable 13th hole to enhance the guest experience. The portable 13th hole was designed to maximize throughput and marketability of the course. We installed custom knight, wizard and dragon props to stay consistent with ShadowLand’s existing medieval theme. Several photo opportunities are available for Instagrammable moments, including wizard stand-in pieces and a custom-made entry archway of a dragon breaching a castle wall. Additionally, multiple entries were designed into the course to allow for maximum throughput on busy days.

“No matter what the attraction is, we make it immersive, story-driven and social,” said Van Natta.

“Our 20 years of creating themed attractions with these elements allow us to make any attraction successful.”

Even after over 15 years of working with Taylor, our talented team continues to deliver fresh, new experiences with each project.

“So far the guests are enjoying the ‘WOW effect,’” said Taylor.

“The theming is the best and many customers have stated [to me] that it’s better than some of our top competitors.”

We are excited to be working with ShadowLand on another immersive miniature golf experience for the franchise’s Columbia, Maryland location. The project is expected to be finished mid-2018.
ShadowLand operates in five separate locations in Virginia and Maryland.
