Sept. 11, 2017– Mooresville, IN – Recently-opened Widgets Family Fun facility contracted us for multiple immersive attractions. The Manhattan, KS family entertainment center worked with us in the early stages of its development to construct steampunk/aviation-inspired laser tag and mural paintings in the Midwest location. Additionally, Widgets installed the popular Lazer Frenzy laser maze.

Identical twins and Widgets managers/operating partners Lacy [Hull] Brown and Stacey [Hull] Niedfeldt began work to develop the family-owned FEC in 2016. Upon the initial contact in August 2016 to the finished install in June of this year, we have been involved in every step of the development process from start to finish to bring Brown’s and Niedfeldt’s aviation-themed vision to life. This included the plans for the two-story, 3,110 square foot Epic Arenas laser tag arena and Lazer Frenzy laser maze in the 15,000 square foot facility.

“The first set of theme work we got we said ‘you blew it out of the park the first time’, stated Niedfeldt. “That’s exactly what we want, thought we didn’t know that’s what we wanted. We had general themes, general ideas, and more of ‘this is what we don’t want’ and it was exactly what we wanted.“

In November 2016, Brown and Niedfeldt linked up in-person with us at the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) Expo where the twins purchased the large steampunk-styled dirigible prop from our award winning booth. The dirigible further cemented the theme for Widgets’ laser tag arena, and the matching, airbrushed mural paintings lining the arcade, mini-bowling and party room walls further accented the theme.

Brown and Niedfeldt linked up in-person with us once more when the twins attended 360 Event, a two day educational conference in Indianapolis hosted by us. Attendees have the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of FEC and laser tag operations from industry professionals, with topics ranging from sight selection and financing to operational fundamentals and hiring.

“If you’re looking to get into the industry, it’s cheap to come to an event like this,” stated Brown. “Opposed to spending a million dollars on a facility and getting the answers after the fact.”

Widgets Family Fun opened its doors to the public on June 22, 2017.
