We Are Creative Works Episode 9

This is the ninth episode in a series called We Are Creative Works. In these videos, we show off different projects that our talented team is working on. Below is a transcript of the video.

We recently made a model for our Earth Quest laser tag theme. It’s based off of some of the creatures that you see in Avatar the movie.

My modeling process all begins in ZBrush. The first thing I do is go find lots of reference images and then from there, I start with a sphere, like I would with a ball of clay in real life, only on the computer it’s completely digital of course.

So, my next step goes from the circle to adding in general block shapes like the the reference pictures are guiding me to. And then from there, I go ahead and start adding in details with the myriad of different tools within ZBrush.

The Foam Department takes it and they put together the individual pieces we cut out using the CNC machine and then they add final details to make the foam really set correctly according to the model.

From there they hard coat it and then it goes to paint who’s job it is to put on the finishing details to bring the creature to life. The paint Department uses a black light painting process that ensures that the creature is going to stand out in the laser tag arena.
